So, instead of watching the superbowl, on of my ex-coworkers hosts Arcade Bowl, where we just sit around and play games. Over the past couple years, we’ve found that it mostly devolves into sitting around in front of two projectors, and playing eight player halo.
We tried to do this with other games this year, and it was a dissapointment. For example, Gears of War 2 appeared to support four player spilit screen on a single console, but only seemed to support one player per machine in system link mode. We had two 360 consoles, and eight controllers, but only four of us could join. We had a similar problem with Call of Duty: World at War. This meant that the only game we could get everybody into at the same time was Halo 3. It is a good game, but sometimes variety would be nice…
I would have thought being a lan party friendly game would help sales, but according to this there are very few Xbox 360 games that allow a lot of people to play at a LAN party. Well, unless you want most partygoers to bring a TV screen, and an Xbox 360.
